Richard Williams

CRANBERRY, Pa. — A man is facing charges on accusations he stole 25 Terrible Towels from a local Giant Eagle.

According to court documents, the theft happened on Jan. 11 at the Giant Eagle off Route 19 in Cranberry.

A Giant Eagle loss prevention employee told police they saw a man, identified as Richard Williams, 56, of Harrisburg, concealed the towels and other items in paper bags and walked out of the store without paying for them.

When loss prevention approached Williams, he dropped the paper bag and continued walking through the parking lot. The criminal complaint states the merchandise he stole was worth $339.

Williams was charged with retail theft on Jan. 13. Because of two prior retail theft convictions, this one is considered a third-degree felony. Williams is being held in the Butler County on a $35,000 cash bond.
