WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — A man is dead after a “physical altercation” inside a West Mifflin home on Saturday night, police say.

The Allegheny County Police Department says first responders were called to a home on the 1100 block of Thompson Run Road around 10:45 p.m. for a welfare check.

Upon arrival, they found a man dead inside the residence and another man with lacerations.

The injured man was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

Allegheny County Police Department Homicide Unit detectives are investigating. They say preliminary information shows both men were “involved in a physical altercation.”

After consulting the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, ACPD charged Andy-Steven Nimajuan-Sitan, 20, with criminal homicide in connection with the incident.

According to court records, police found Nimajuan-Sitan covered in blood lying on the floor of a trailer. Another man, also covered in blood, was found in the residence and declared deceased shortly afterward.

When interviewed, Nimajuan-Sitan claimed the two had been drinking together when the other man threatened to kill him, brandished a knife and tried to stab him. Nimajuan-Sitan said he hit the man multiple times with a bat to defend himself.

Police say the other man had suffered significant trauma to the head, as well as puncture wounds to the abdomen and lower back.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the County Police Tip Line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
