Initial coverage:

A driver is in critical condition after a horse racing accident at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows on Wednesday afternoon.

Our partner WJPA reports driver Hunter Myers, 27, was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital where he’s reportedly in critical condition and being treated for a brain injury.

At least six horses were involved in the crash during the 11th race. Officials said it appeared another horse broke its stride, causing the chain reaction.

The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association said on Facebook that racing has been canceled for the remainder of the week.

A Facebook video posted in February by the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association said that Myers has raced nearly 20,000 times and has been harness racing since he was 16.
