PITTSBURGH — Fifteen-year-old Dayvon Vickers was shot in the head as he waited to cross the street on his minibike in Homewood back in March 2022.

His murder was caught on city surveillance cameras, where you can see someone firing three shots.
Pittsburgh police say the man who pulled the trigger is Shaun Scott, who, so far, has sat in silence during his trial.
According to prosecutors, shortly after the shooting, officers recognized and identified Scott from surveillance video inside a nearby convenience store.
Even though officers apparently knew who the shooter was, Scott wasn’t taken into custody until several months later, when they were investigating the murder of Maleek Thomas.

Thomas was killed just after he graduated high school when he heard someone throwing rocks at a window and told them to stop.

That person, according to investigators, was Shaun Scott. Police say he shot and killed Thomas, months after he was allegedly identified as a homicide suspect in Vickers’ case.
Scott’s defense attorney told the jury this was not a complete investigation, and his client’s identification is unreliable.
