WILKINSBURG, Pa. — A teen has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Wilkinsburg.
Allegheny County police say Khalil Valcin, 17, is facing multiple charges, including homicide and possession of a firearm by a minor.
Valcin reportedly turned himself in on Wednesday at the Pittsburgh Municipal Court. He’s being held at the Allegheny County Jail.
At 8:25 p.m. Jan 4, police found 19-year-old Dorrel Ferguson dead on the sidewalk in the 1000 block of Ross Avenue. Court records show Ferguson was shot once in the neck.
“I was watching the Steelers game and I heard a gunshot. It was wintertime. I looked outside and the kid was lying there dead,” a neighbor told Channel 11.
He remembers the night Dorrel Ferguson was murdered.
“I was wondering what happened? Was there an issue?,” he asked
Police say they identified Valcin as the suspect through witness interviews and surveillance videos.
Investigators say Valcin went to a business in the 1100 block of Penn Avenue to sell marijuana to Ferguson. Valcin then allegedly followed and shot Ferguson after realizing there was no money in the bag Ferguson had given him in exchange.
On social media, Valcin described himself as a Woodland Hills Football player with a 4.0 GPA.
