PITTSBURGH — A man has been found guilty of a murder that happened in Homewood in 2021.
Police were called to the intersection of Frankstown Avenue and North Braddock Avenue for reports of a shooting on March 9, 2021. Julian Isaiah Carter, 30, of Turtle Creek was found face down in the street with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Christopher Robert Papalia of Trafford was charged after the incident. Police said he called 911, gave his name and told dispatchers he had shot Carter.
“I didn’t want to shoot him, but then he’s dead,” Papalia told dispatchers according to the criminal complaint. “My shirt is very bloody. My coat is very bloody.”
On Friday he was found guilty of murder in the third degree.
The jury deliberated for just a few hours before reaching a verdict.
