Man accused of robbing Monroeville Burger King at gunpoint, tasing employees

MONROEVILLE, Pa. — A man is accused of robbing a Burger King in Monroeville at gunpoint on Sunday and tasing employees.

Court documents filed on Monday allege a man, later identified as Yamin Harris, 30, entered Monroeville Burger King on Broadway Boulevard in Monroeville through the back door on Sunday, soon after employees closed the main lobby.

The documents allege Harris had a gun in one hand and a taser or long cattle prod device in the other. He’s accused of taking two employees and pointing the gun at a manager.

Harris reportedly forced a manager into the office and demanded money from the safe, then made the other employees grab garbage bags for him to put the cash into, per the documents. He then left out the back door and drove away after taking less than $1,000 from the fast food restaurant.

After leaving the Burger King, the court documents state Harris led police on a chase in a Subaru sedan, but he eventually jumped from the passenger side of the vehicle and ran. He was eventually located in Pitcairn and taken into custody.

The Subaru Harris was believed to be driving was taken to the Monroeville Police Station Garage. After obtaining a search warrant, court documents state police found $805 in cash, a loaded gun, a cattle prod, a black mask and gloves inside the vehicle.

Online court records show Harris is facing two dozen charges, including robbery, simple assault, fleeing from police and terroristic threats. He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail without bail.

This isn’t the first robbery Harris has been charged with in the Pittsburgh area. In the Fall of 2012, investigators say Harris held up the First Niagara Bank on Wabash Street in the West End. He was also arrested for robbing First National Bank on Murray Avenue in Squirrel Hill around that same time.
