Ours: “I ain’t an (expletive) racist, that’s why”

This is what fugitive Brett Ours had to say Thursday night after he was caught by U.S. Marshals and Aliquippa Police. Ours is one of two men facing charges for viciously attacking 52-year-old Preston Coleman at the local VFW on January 5th. Police say Coleman was beaten so badly he had to be flown to a hospital.

Ours has always been the main suspect, but he reportedly didn’t act alone. Another man, Ron Brown, is charged for reportedly watching Ours beat Coleman up before joining in. Brown turned himself into authorities last month while Ours remained on the run - until Thursday.

Aliquippa Police Detective David Mousura said, “We got some information. A tip that we followed up on and it kind of trickled from there.”

Authorities found Ours inside a West Aliquippa home.

Mousura said, “We surrounded the house. He wouldn’t come out. It was continuing to escalate and then on his free will he came out.”

The night of the assault, Aliquippa Police say surveillance video captured Ours repeatedly strangling, kicking and punching the victim for 30 minutes - slamming a barstool over his head and standing on his throat. Detectives say a minor disagreement is what provoked Ours to attack Coleman.

“It’s not just a relief for us. It’s a relief for the whole community i mean everybody knew that he was wanted and we don’t want people like that that are committing these crimes out on our streets,” Mousura added.

The victim, Preston Coleman, is a beloved father and grandfather who was left with broken bones and multiple brain bleeds. Coleman continues to recover in the hospital.

Ours was taken to the Beaver County Jail. He faces several charges including attempted homicide.
