PITTSBURGH — Local universities joined together on Tuesday morning to take a strong stand against hate on college campuses.
Law enforcement, students and staff met at Carnegie Mellon University for a “combatting antisemitism” training hosted by Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala.
Organizers say they want to help people understand how to identify antisemitism and do something to stop the threats
“It’s alarming, you know, we see the spike in anti-semitism and we definitely need to address it and hopefully educate,” said Deputy District Attorney Ilan Zur. “I think that’s the most important thing is to educate people as to what this is and how to stop it.”
This training follows several recent incidents on or near Pitt’s campus, including a man who says he was attacked by a group who saw him wearing a Star of David necklace.
