Deadly crash temporarily shuts down stretch of northbound I-79

A deadly crash temporarily shut down a large section of I-79 in Southwestern Pennsylvania on Wednesday.

Around 1:30 p.m., PennDOT advised that northbound I-79 was closed between Exit 7 and Exit 14 in Greene County because of a crash between two vehicles.

Pennsylvania State Police confirmed one person died in the crash.

The Greene County coroner later identified the victim as Robbi Bennett, 26, of Texas.

No additional information about the crash was immediately available.

The road had reopened by around 3 p.m.
