Man injured, dog killed in Clairton shootout, police say

CLAIRTON, Pa. — A man was hurt and a dog was killed in a shootout in Clairton on Thursday.

Allegheny County 911 said police and EMS crews were called to Marion Circle around 4 p.m.

Detectives say a man who was shot in his leg had reportedly gotten into a shootout with two other men in the street.

Pamela Lee and her son Jeremiah say it was a terrifying sequence of events.

“I just hear bullets, all this shooting, it was so loud it sounded like it was in my yard,” Pamela Lee said.

“I was upstairs playing video games with my friend and i heard something hit like brick and I was like I was thinking it was shots because after that I heard more and I ran downstairs she was already coming out the bathroom,” Jeremiah Lee said.

That’s when Jeremiah dropped to the ground and told his mom to do the same.

“I told her to get down,” he said. “Thirty-five-plus shots fired. After that, it was a couple more shots after the ARs ended, and we didn’t hear nothin’.”

Police say the man shot in his leg was taken to the hospital where he’s in stable condition. The other two men involved are also accounted for.

Police later updated their report, confirming a dog was hit by gunfire and died during the shootout.

Allegheny County Police say detectives will work with the district attorney’s office to determine what charges should be filed.
