PITTSBURGH — A man was shot and killed by police in Pittsburgh’s Brighton Heights neighborhood after authorities said he stabbed an officer who was at the home to serve a Protection From Abuse Order.
Pittsburgh police were called to a domestic disturbance in the 200 block of Carpenter Lane around 3:45 a.m. A person from the home was taken to court to file a PFA.

Shortly before 6 a.m., police arrived back at the home on Carpenter Lane to serve the order.
Once they entered the home, police said a man approached an officer with a knife and stabbed him. Another officer then shot the man multiple times.
The man died at the scene. The officer was treated at the scene for minor stab wounds.
Allegheny County Police are investigating. They said the status of the officer involved in the shooting will be determined by Pittsburgh Police.
