‘It is quite terrifying’: Man tries more than 30 times to get into Greene County high school

CARMICHAELS, Pa. — Outside Carmichaels High School last week, a scene played out between police and Jack Tracekmas, 63, captured on video.

“During my tenure, we’d had Columbine, from that point I think the fear of a similar incident was always on everybody’s minds,” said Rose Gabeletto who’s a former Carmichaels teacher.

That was the fear for many, as last Thursday Tracekmas made over 30 attempts to enter the high school before police restrained and arrested him.

“It seems those incidents are getting more prevalent and the more press they get, it encourages other people,” Gabeletto said.

According to the district superintendent, Tracekmas has no connection to the school but told the school office he had a meeting with the security office — then refused to leave.

Officials said he just kept coming back before police attempted to arrest him for trespassing. That’s when police can be seen using a taser, but the criminal complaint said Tracekmas pulled one of the taser probes out and into one of the officer’s hands, sending him to the hospital.

“It is quite terrifying because no matter how much security you have even schools you can’t make things 100% secure,” Gabeletto said.

Now Tracekmas is facing over 30 school trespassing charges and resisting arrest.

“You don’t know what people’s intentions are and what they have on them that’s concealed,” Gabeletto said.

Tracekmas is due in court Wednesday morning for his preliminary hearing.
