WASHINGTON, Pa. — The search is on for a man charged with attempted homicide who was mistakenly released from the Washington County Jail.
The Washington County District Attorney’s Office tells Channel 11 that Samuel Valle failed to show up for a court hearing last week, and that’s the first they learned he had been released from custody, accidentally, on December 4, 2024.
There are still a lot of questions about why Valle was released, but the Washington County Jail and warden have not responded to our requests for comment.
Families Channel 11 talked to say they wish they knew about this mishap.
“No information is given, no picture or anything has been released,” Elizabeth Miller said.
“There are millions of people who watch the news every day, so yeah, I think we should have been warned,” Kevin Persichetti added.
A warrant has been issued for Valle’s arrest, and he is considered armed and dangerous.
Valle was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment after police say he shot at a man following a house party and gunfight at a home in Charleroi in September of 2023.
Valle is well known to police, with long criminal records in Washington and Westmoreland counties, including burglary.
“Did they just let him go with no attorney and they’re not giving anybody any information on it? That’s not right at all,” Miller asked.
“Hopefully they can get it straightened out and let’s hope to god he doesn’t hurt anybody else,” Persichetti added.
We will update this story as soon as we hear back from the jail’s warden.
