Roger Mills is devastated. Channel 11 was there when he arrived on the scene to see his place destroyed. The building belongs to his boss, the owner of Mitch’s Barbecue along Route 19.

They were both at the restaurant handling the lunch rush when this happened.

“We were at lunch and my employee answered the phone and said somebody called and said they called 911 that smoke is coming from the roof of the house where I store things for the restaurant ‚” said Mitch Evanitsky, the owner of Mitch’s Barbecue.

“I ran down here like him. I actually live here, he rents it to me,” said Mills.

The Wexford fire chief said they got a call for a house fire before 1 p.m. along Warrendale Road.

“There were smoke and flames showing from the second floor of the house. An occupant said a space heater may have been involved in the fire,” said Chief Chris Ausefski, Wexford Vol. Fire Dept.

The road was shut down while firefighters put out the flames. The second floor was destroyed and there was damage to the first floor. Right now, the fire marshal is investigating.
