PITTSBURGH — A man who lived in Homestead has pleaded guilty to violating federal narcotics and firearms laws while on supervised release, the Department of Justice announced.
Erik Addison, 28, pleaded guilty to four counts in front of a federal judge on Monday.
As a result of the plea, the court was advised of Addison attempting to evade Pittsburgh police in May 2023 after they tried to stop his vehicle. As Channel 11 previously reported, Addison sped away from authorities and later abandoned the vehicle, eventually exchanging gunfire with a Homestead police officer.

The Department of Justice says police video from that incident shows Addison with a Glock 19 9 mmm pistol equipped with a machinegun conversion device, or Glock switch. Investigators also recovered two cell phones and more than $3,200 in cash from Addison’s person, as well as 28 bricks of fentanyl and a 31-round Glock magazine from his vehicle.
Prosecutors say the cell phone contained “extensive evidence” of Addison’ns drug trafficking and knowledge of Glock switches. Addison, a previous felon after a 2021 federal firearms offense conviction, is not allowed to possess firearms or ammunition.
On top of the federal charges, the Department of Justice says Addison charges in Allegheny County for the May 2023 incident. He’s also accused of possessing a synthetic cannabinoid while detained at the Allegheny County Jail and awaiting trial in October 2023.
“Erik Addison’s blatant disregard for the law by possessing a dangerous firearm in connection with illegal fentanyl trafficking while on federal supervised release for a prior conviction and then, possessing another controlled substance while incarcerated on those charges, demonstrates the need to have dangerous criminals like him off of our streets,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Rivetti. “Today’s plea is a testament to the good work of our law enforcement partners in helping to bring violent traffickers such as Addison to justice.”
Addison will be sentenced on May 29. Addison has agreed to a 35-year sentence, the Department of Justice says.
