Sunny start expected for Monday after chilly overnight temperatures

PITTSBURGH — We wrap up this frigid weekend with a few passing clouds this evening with temperatures falling through the 20s. It will be mostly clear overnight and lows will tumble to the teens.

Monday morning will start very cold but with sunshine so make sure to grab a warm coat and sunglasses before heading out the door. Sun will mix with clouds throughout the day, and it will not be as cold. Highs will reach the low 40s. More clouds are expected at night, a few snow showers are possible ahead of a warm front north of Pittsburgh overnight. Most of this won’t make it here and will move through quickly, but you can’t rule out a few slick spots north of the city early Tuesday morning.

Tuesday will be warmer with more clouds around; temperatures will jump above average to the mid-50s ahead of the next system. Rain will develop overnight for the morning commute on Wednesday. Then clouds will mix with sun through the day with gusty winds pushing temperatures into the 60s. Rain and thunder are possible later in the day but colder air rushes in behind this system that will change rain to snow showers into Thursday morning.
