Thursday is former President Jimmy Carter’s state funeral in Washington D.C. President Joe Biden also declared Jan. 9 as a National Day of Mourning across the U.S.
Biden issued the executive order closing executive departments and agencies of the federal government on Dec. 30, the day after Carter died at age 100. Flags were also ordered to fly at half-staff for 30 days from the day Carter died.
Here’s what you can expect will be open or closed on the National Day of Mourning:
Federal offices and mail service
Most federal offices will be closed on Thursday, except for federal workers whose jobs are deemed as vital.
