Group of teens suspected of robbing man at West End Overlook

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police believe a group of teens spotted riding around with guns robbed a man at the West End Overlook.

“It’s very disturbing to me, and it’s disturbing these kids appear to be younger,” Councilwoman Theresa Kail-Smith told Channel 11.

That’s what Pittsburgh Councilwoman Theresa Kail-Smith had to say about surveillance pictures that went out to officers.

In two photos, you can see two teenage boys hanging out of car windows, with guns in their hands. In another picture, a group of teens is walking in a parking lot.

“Those images were jarring to see. And it’s jarring for anybody to see that,” she added.

According to police sources, the teens robbed a man at gunpoint at the West End Overlook last weekend.

Our sources tell Channel 11, that some of the teens are just 13 and 14 years old — and they have at least two military-style rifles and several handguns.

“No one should ever worry about walking in a park anywhere and being robbed…especially at gunpoint,” Kail-Smith said.

Sources say the victim was able to identify two of the cars that were at the overlook — and police say those cars were stolen.
