Generous donation helps family reach funding goal for service dog to manage toddler’s rare condition

CRANBERRY, Pa. — A generous donation is helping a local family get a much-needed service dog for their toddler.

Channel 11 first told you about Sophia, also known as Pip, last week. The almost 2-year-old needs the service dog to help manage a rare genetic disorder, MCADD.

Pip’s family now tells us that after the story ran, another family who lost a child due to a metabolic crisis 29 years ago felt compelled to help and donated $11,000. This donation, along with others, put Pip’s family over their $23,000 funding goal to get on the waitlist for the service dog.
