PITTSBURGH — A Franklin Regional High School graduate is coming home to play for Pittsburgh’s newest team.

Sydney Lindeman, 21, will play for the Pittsburgh Riveters as a defender.

She has a history with the Riverhounds, playing for their Development Academy on their Elite Clubs National League, the organization said.

“Sydney is a player that we know well and have worked with for years in the Academy. As a player, she is extremely intelligent and very smooth on the ball. Her versatility, temperament and overall class will be an asset to the team this upcoming season,” Riveters head coach Scott Gibson said.

She was an all-WPIAL and all-state athlete in high school. She moved on to play at Towson University where she made 14 appearances and nine starts. She allowed only 17 goals in 19 matches, the Riveters said. She helped lead her team to the NCAA Tournament in 2022.

Players for the new women’s soccer team roster are still being selected.

Lindeman’s roster spot is expected to be approved once 2025 registration opens, the Riveters said.
