FREEDOM, Pa. — A former Beaver County labor union financial secretary has pleaded guilty to embezzling charges.
According to the Department of Justice, Vincent Wolf, 57, served as the financial secretary for the United Steelworkers Local Union 623 in Freedom for eight years.
Wolf was in charge of maintaining all financial records, preparing annual reports and issuing payments on the unions’ behalf.
An audit of the union’s finances was held after Wolf lost re-election. Court documents said $14,695 was missing.
Investigators said Wolf was writing checks to himself and used the ATM debit card to withdraw from its account and buy lunch and alcohol.
Wolf pleaded guilty to the federal charge on Thursday.
He could receive up to five years in prison. Additionally, he could receive a fine of up to $10 million, a fine worth double the amount of money he gained or both.
Judge Marilyn J. Horan has scheduled his sentencing for June 4.
