The Reserve Township fire chief said the roof was on fire when crews arrived. Firefighters had to open up all of the walls to fight the flames. Despite their efforts, part of the roof collapsed.

The building was used for after-school programs in the community.

Neighbors at the scene said they were heartbroken by the loss.

“It’s a big loss. It’s a big loss because it became [an] after-school program for the kids You know what I mean? And it’s so sad,” said resident Syl-Jean Marshall. “Kids up here need something to do.”

One person did suffer a minor injury to their finger.

The Allegheny County Fire Marshal is working to determine the cause of the fire.
