Fire at car dealership building shuts down major Butler County road for hours

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Crews were on the scene of a fire at a car dealership in Butler County for hours.

The fire broke out just before 2:30 a.m. on the property of J.R.’s Truck and Auto Sales along New Castle Road in Franklin Township.

In addition to being a car dealership, Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Andrew said there are at least two apartments inside the building.

Niederlander said there was such a big response because they do not have fire hydrants that supply the section of the road and had to call multiple tankers in.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury.

New Castle Road was shut down in the area until the scene cleared around 7 a.m.

The fire marshal was called to investigate.
