Fire breaks out in West Mifflin home with 10 pets inside

Nordeen Drive Fire

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — A West Mifflin home was damaged in a fire on Sunday.

First responders were sent to the home on Nordeen Drive before 10 a.m. Sunday.

A Channel 11 crew on scene saw smoke billowing from windows and a hole cut into the roof.

Firefighters were also bringing buckets and wheelbarrows of road salt to the scene, in an effort to keep the road from freezing over.

The homeowner told us that no people were home when the fire broke, but there were 10 pets — nine cats and a dog — inside. It’s not known at this time if any survived the fire.

The fire is under investigation.
