PITTSBURGH — A fan fell over the right field wall onto the warning track at PNC Park on Wednesday night.
In a statement, the Pirates say a man fell from the right field bleachers onto the field of play during the seventh inning. The Clemente Wall measures 21 feet above the field.
Pittsburgh EMS, along with other PNC Park officials and the athletic training teams for the Pirates and Cubs, immediately provided him aid.
Pittsburgh Police said the fall was accidental.

The man was taken out of the stadium on a backboard and transported to a Pittsburgh hospital. A Pittsburgh Public Safety official says he’s in critical condition.
The Pirates say their “thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.”
The South Allegheny School District identified the fan as Kavan Markwood, a 2022 graduate.
The district said Markwood was a star athlete and described him as “a young man of character.”
He was the team MVP of the football team and earned First-Team All-Conference honors during his senior year.
“Kavan is best known for his resilience, strength, and kindness. He is a friend to all—someone who lifts others up and faces challenges with courage and grace," the district said.
They are asking for thoughts and prayers.
The terrifying incident shocked fans and players. Pirates Manager Derek Shelton was visibly shaken during a post-game press conference.
“Before we start, I just want to offer thoughts and prayers with the incident that happened earlier in the game and thank both our medical staff, the Cubs medical staff, EMS, everybody that got to the gentleman and ask that everybody keep them in your prayers,” he said.
Andrew McCutchen, who hit a two-run double seconds before the man fell, offered his prayers in a social media post.
“Truly hate what happened tonight. Cant help but think about that guy, his family and friends. I pray tonight for him. Let us think about his loved ones and hug our families a little tighter tonight. I hope he pulls thru. May God Bless you all. Good night.”
