ROSTRAVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The man accused of driving nearly 120 miles per hour on I-70 in Rostraver in March 2024 causing a fatal crash was in court Monday.
His defense attorney asked for a 60-day delay in the case.
“Last year was a nightmare and nothing but a big blur. This year is nothing but heartache and more grief,” Kayla Demo said.
Demo’s sister, Tori Demo, was killed in that crash in March 2024. She was just five minutes from home.

Police said the man who hit her — Jacob Posey — was driving 118 miles per hour but believed he was going 70. The speed limit is 55.
“He knows how fast he was going. He knows. He just knows,” Demo said.
Posey, who is out of jail on bond, was in court Monday as his lawyers asked for a two-month delay in the case to do their own accident reconstruction report, and also to get the victim’s medical records.
“I just feel like he’s just buying his time, that’s all, and putting us through more heartache and grief than what we really need to go through,” Demo told Channel 11′s Andrew Havranek.
Witnesses said Posey’s truck came up behind Demo in the left lane. She went to get into the right, at the same time Posey did to pass her. That’s when Demo’s car was hit.
Kayla Demo wants the case to go to trial.
“I think that he should get the maximum sentence,” she said. “He was sober, he didn’t have anything in his system, and he was going 120 miles per hour! You cannot tell me that he didn’t know what he was doing.”
But on Monday, Demo said she was expecting the District Attorney to offer Posey a plea deal of 14 to 28 months. That’s up from nine to 12 months Demo said prosecutors were initially seeking.
The DA’s office said it does not comment on any potential plea deals. Posey’s lawyer did not return Havranek’s call.
“I hope that my sister gets the justice that she deserves,” Demo said.
The Demo family plans to hold a memorial mass, and then a balloon release near the crash site on March 16 to mark one year since that tragic accident.
