RANKIN, Pa. — Allegheny County police are investigating after an SUV that was hit by bullets crashed into a pole in Rankin.
Emergency dispatchers were called for a report of shots fired at the Palisades Manor Apartments around 1:37 a.m.
A short time later, an SUV was found crashed into a utility pole at Fifth and Hawkins avenues. Police said the car was also shot up.
When our crews arrived, they saw dozens of evidence markers near the intersection
Our photographer also saw police activity at a nearby Sunoco in Swissvale, a few minutes from the crime scene. Allegheny County police confirmed that a second vehicle not involved in the shooting was also hit by gunfire. A bullet hit the driver’s clothing, but they were not injured. Police said they were driving for Uber at the time.
The scene cleared hours later around 6:30 a.m. Allegheny County police are investigating.
