Woman killed in Lawrence County house fire

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A woman is dead following a house fire in Lawrence County on Thursday morning.

Firefighters were called to the home in the 100 block of Good Avenue in New Castle around 6:12 a.m.

Officials stated that the woman was in a bedroom with a closed door and wasn’t able to get out. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

The coroner later identified the victim as Gerri Black, 59.

A man inside the home was able to get out. He was taken to a local hospital with severe burns on his feet.
