CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Additional charges were filed on Friday against a contractor accused of ripping off local homeowners.
We first told you about Nathan Gamboa last week, and since then, more victims have come forward. He’s now facing charges in Cranberry Township for home improvement fraud.
Police said the victim paid Gamboa more than $10,000 for a kitchen remodel he barely started and never completed.
“I don’t expect to get my money back but I hope now that they’ve filed additional charges that this ends here,” said victim Lynn Berger.
Last week, when police arrested and charged Gamboa who owns M & A Contracting for taking $6,000 from Lynn Berger and not doing the work on her back deck. She said all she got was excuses.
A similar situation happened to Dave Hickman in Beaver in 2019. He hired and paid Gamboa $5,000 to replace his roof, but said Gamboa never did. He sued Gamboa and won the civil lawsuit.
“This is justice a little bit, he needs to learn you can’t take advantage of people,” Hickman said.
Earlier this year, a Bellevue couple in Allegheny County filed fraud charges against Gamboa for paying him $9,000 for a job he didn’t finish.
Police said Gamboa was also sued by the attorney general’s office and last year, a Beaver County judge ordered him to cease operations as a home improvement contractor for violating rules like not being registered, not having insurance, and taking too much money for a down payment.
“His attitude has been really smug, and I think he’s a professional con man and a liar. He tells his lies to get things out of people and very believable and finds people at weak moments,” Berger said.
There are other active investigations. Police said they’ve received similar allegations from at least 10 more victims. Right now, Gamboa is in jail on a $100,000 bond. Anyone who may be a victim should call their local police department.
