Car split in half after crashing into pole in Pittsburgh’s Point Breeze neighborhood

PITTSBURGH — A car split in half after crashing into a pole in Pittsburgh’s Point Breeze neighborhood.

Emergency crews were called to the single-vehicle crash in the 7200 block of Penn Avenue at 11:23 a.m.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said the driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses told police that a man was speeding and appeared to lose control of the car before hitting the pole.

Penn Avenue was closed for around three hours as detectives investigated.
