The crash happened shortly after 5 a.m. along Route 22 near Horsemans Road in Derry Township.

State police said one person was hurt.

A fire chief on the scene told Channel 11 that the car hit a deer before going off the road, hit an SUV, pushing it about 10 feet into the back of another SUV, and ultimately crashed into the front of the home.

Brittanie Perla told Channel 11 her parents have lived in the home for 40 years and that something like this has never happened. She said her parents were getting ready for work when they heard a loud crash and found a car in their kitchen. She said it’s a miracle her mom didn’t get hurt.

“Something kept her out of the kitchen and in the living room for a little bit longer than normal, but usually, she’s up getting coffee for my dad started and breakfast for them both,” Perla said.

Perla said the driver of the car had a head injury. He was able to get out of the car on his own, but was taken to the hospital. Emergency responders remind everyone to always be on the lookout for deer, even though sometimes there isn’t much you can do to avoid them.

“Since we have the big barrier here, they’re jumping the barrier, so if you’re coming along and can’t see it, they’re in mid-air – they’re going to hit you in mid-air,” said Chief Mark Piantine of the Derry Twp. Fire Department.

Channel 11 has a crew at the scene working to learn more. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
