Man arrested after crime spree along busy Pine Township road

PINE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Neighbors in Pine Township are still trying to wrap their heads around a bizarre series of crimes committed overnight on Bakerstown Road.

Northern Regional Police said Michael Bohl, 37, vandalized the Magnolia and Pine restaurant, then went house-by-house, stealing American flags, rummaging through neighbors’ yards, and entering homes.

Doorbell video captured Bohl on camera at one of the homes around 3:30 am. He was eventually found sleeping on a couch inside one of them before police arrested him.

Neighbors told Channel 11 about some of what Bohl was doing beforehand. Jamile Thomas said Bohl came into her home through an unlocked door that a family member accidentally left open.

“He set the table. He took the china out of the china closet and he put of jar of sauce in front of each plate,” Thomas said. “He ate half an avocado, it was on the plate.”

“Stuff was moved around. He was drinking their booze,” said Bob Bauer, who lives on Bakerstown Road. “He ought to be glad I didn’t catch him.”

Thomas’ daughter came face-to-face with Bohl after he made himself comfortable.

“He was lying on the sofa, cozy, with the blanket on him,” Thomas said. “She tiptoed in there, she looked at him, he looked at her, they both went ‘Ahhhh!’”

Bauer said his house was spared, but veteran Dale Riley wasn’t so lucky.

“My flags were down, the U.S. flag was gone, the Marine flag was left lying on the ground,” Riley said.

Northern Regional Police arrested Bohl at the Thomas’ house. He faces multiple charges, including theft, burglary, and prowling.
