BEAVER COUNTY, Pa. — A major milestone has been reached in the rebuild of a beloved Beaver County dairy farm.
Brunton Dairy suffered significant damage after a 2023 fire that killed several cows. The barn and milk processing facility were destroyed.
The cows are home.
“Very exciting that they’re back,” Katie Brunton said.
“They’re home sweet home,” Jake Brunton said.
They’ve been cared for at neighboring farms since the fire.
“You grow up this way and you can’t ever imagine being without them. It was rough when they weren’t here,” Alexia Brunton said.
‘I just like seeing them,” Eva Brunton said.
The cows actually arrived three weeks ago but had to take time to get acclimated. The new barn is bigger and with some unique features.
“It’s a total automatic milking system,” Ed Brunton said.
The milk machine is laser guided. They also have robots pushing feed and picking up manure.
The milking machine is hooked up to an app that tells the Bruntons which cows have been milked and when.
There is still no bottling. The Bruntons hope to have that back up and running this Spring.
“It sets it up very well for the future. The next generation can have it. It’s set up for them to continue on.”
