ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — A Beaver County man is accused of falsely reporting his car as stolen after crashing it while driving drunk.
The City of Aliquippa Police Department said a state constable saw a blue Crysler 200 crash into a fence and a utility pole in the area of Main Street and Maratta Road in Aliquippa at 10:57 p.m. on Friday.
The constable told police they saw the driver run away from the scene of the crash with a bottle of liquor in his hand. They provided a description of the driver to Beaver County dispatchers.
Not long after the crash, police got a call from a man who said his vehicle had been stolen and wrecked. The caller arrived at the crash scene and spoke with the constable.
The constable told police the man who was reporting his car stolen, was the same man who had exited the vehicle after it had crashed. He had a bloody lip and was wearing the same clothing that the constable reported to dispatchers. Police said he also had the keys to the vehicle on his person.
That man was identified as Raishaun Jeter, 27, of Aliquippa. Police said he had bloodshot glassy eyes, slurred speech, a staggering gait and smelled like alcohol.
He was arrested under suspicion of DUI.
Jeter reportedly blew a .135% BAC.
He has been charged with DUI, hit and run, false reports, careless driving, and driving while having a suspended license.
