MONACA, Pa. — A man is facing charges after police say he hit and killed a 76-year-old man with a vehicle in Monaca.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and 12th Street at 6:57 p.m. on Saturday.

Officers found Raymond Brychik, 76, unconscious on the road when they arrived. Police said he had a brain bleed, broken shoulder and broken pelvis. He was taken to a hospital and died at Allegheny General Hospital Monday at 8:38 a.m.

According to court documents, Aldert Daniel Bouman, 38, of Aliquippa was the driver.

Police said Bouman left the scene after hitting Brychik and took several side streets before leaving.

Investigators used witness statements and surveillance video to identify Bouman as the suspect.

Officers said the vehicle was not Bouman’s; it belonged to someone he knew from Independence Township.

Bouman and the vehicle owner were called to the Monaca Police Department for an interview. Both people said Bouman had been driving the vehicle and provided written statements to support this, police said.

Bouman faces felony charges of accidents involving death or personal injury and accidents involving death or injury while not licensed. He also faces charges for failing to stop, notify police of the accident or render aid.
