LAWRENCE COUNTY, Pa. — $5.5 million will be put towards fighting homelessness in Pennsylvania.
Governor Josh Shapiro’s office announced the grant on Wednesday.
The money comes from the new Emergency Solutions Grant and is given to municipalities and nonprofit organizations that help homeless people and families.
“Trusted community organizations across Pennsylvania will use these investments to assist individuals and families affected by homelessness,” said Secretary Siger. “The Shapiro Administration is committed to helping our most vulnerable, and this ESG funding equips local governments and non-profits with the necessary resources to provide essential housing support.”
Locally, $1.2 million will be given to Lawrence County social services. The governor’s office said the money will help provide emergency shelter services, help prevent further homelessness and provide rapid rehousing. The money will be distributed through 11 community organizations.
