Pittsburgh universities and colleges rank among top 100 in U.S.

Two Pittsburgh universities are among the best 100 higher education institutions in the nation, according to the latest annual rankings from U.S. News & World Report as part of its 2022 Best Colleges list.

Carnegie Mellon University ranked No. 25 on the list of best national universities, moving up one spot from last year’s ranking of No. 26. U.S. News & World Report also ranked the university as No. 1 in computer science, No. 2 in undergraduate research/creative projects and No. 6 in best undergraduate engineering programs.

The University of Pittsburgh came in at No. 59 on the list of the nation’s best universities, which fell slightly from last year’s ranking of No. 58. Pitt ranked No. 7 in nursing, No. 20 in top public schools and No. 29 on the list of Best Colleges for Veterans.

Duquesne University, while not in the top 100, came in at No. 148 on the list, which fell from last year’s placement of No. 143. Pittsburgh’s Chatham University and Robert Morris University also ranked among the top 200, coming in at Nos. 172 and 187, respectively.

Other regional university rankings include No. 63 Pennsylvania State University and No. 299 Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
