Meteorologist

Stephanie Allison is a meteorologist for WPXI-TV. "It's been my lifelong dream to do what I love; in the city I love and call home." It is most important to Stephanie to keep her hometown informed and safe in dangerous, severe weather events. "Staying with the viewer during storms and keeping them aware of what's happening in their neighborhood is my top priority." Stephanie also enjoys taking viewers on a weather journey through live cameras and walking you through the forecast step by step. "I want the viewer to know exactly what the forecast is going to be, so they are prepared for the day and week ahead." Stephanie was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area. She graduated from California University of Pennsylvania in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in Earth Science with a concentration in Broadcast Meteorology. Stephanie has won several AP Awards for Outstanding Weather Coverage including covering Hurricane Sandy on Eastern Shore in 2013. Stephanie was the on-call meteorologist for Extreme Home Makeover: Home Edition when the show was in her forecasting area and was even featured in an episode when Hurricane Irene impacted construction on a home in Lewes, DE. Over the past 16 years Stephanie has forecasted as the Chief Meteorologist at HSTV in Uniontown, PA, was the Weekday Evening Meteorologist in Salisbury, MD for five years, and worked in Steubenville, Ohio and freelanced in Johnstown, PA. Stephanie has been a freelance meteorologist for WPXI-TV since June 2017. Stephanie covered the February 2020 snowstorm live in the field for the WPXI Morning News, that newscast won an Emmy for the station. Most recent notable severe weather event she covered was the October 21st, 2021 tornado outbreak that produced 9 tornadoes across the Pittsburgh area. Stephanie officially joined the Severe Weather Team in June of 2022. You can catch Stephanie on the Noon and weekend evening newscasts on Channel 11 News. Snow showers move in tonight, mix with rain Sunday morning

Cloudy and cold this evening, temperatures will stay steady in the low 30s. The next system arrives tonight, bringing scattered snow showers to the area that will mix to rain by Sunday morning. A light snow accumulation of less than 1 inch is possible locally overnight, and areas near I-80 and north could see 1-3 inches of snow. Make sure to take it slow. Black ice is possible along with slippery travel early Sunday morning, as temperatures slowly rise to the upper 30s around 40 degrees by the late morning hours. In our higher elevations, a Winter Advisory has been issued for the ridges of Westmoreland and Fayette counties, as well as Somerset, Preston and Garrett counties from 3 a.m. until noon on Sunday. Snow, sleet and rain are expected with gusty winds around 35 mph. A light snow accumulation is possible of up to one inch and a light glaze of ice will bring slippery travel and icy conditions to these areas.

Snow developing late Saturday, mixing with and changing to rain showers

Gusty winds and frigid wind chills continue this evening. Scattered lake effect snow showers are still in the area. Make sure to use caution, as roads could become icy or slick. It’ll be partly cloudy and cold tonight. Lows will drop to the lower 20s with wind chills in the teens to start Saturday morning.

Dry day ahead after chilly Monday morning

A clear sky will allow temperatures to fall through the 40s quickly this evening. Make sure to grab a warm coat before you head out the door Monday morning, expect wake-up temperatures to be in the 20s and low 30s. It will be a dry Monday with more clouds moving in later in the day ahead of the next system that will move in on Tuesday. Highs will reach the low to mid 50s in the afternoon.

Temperatures to drop during Light Up Night, overnight

Grab a warm coat before you head out tonight! Temperatures will fall through the 40s and into the 30s. Overnight lows will drop to the lower to mid 30s with a slight chance of a few isolated showers or snow showers possible north of I-80 in spots.

Cold start expected Monday as gusty winds bring a chill; chance of snow on Tuesday

It will be blustery and chilly this evening, then turn colder overnight. Low temperatures will drop to the 30s, and wind chills will be around 20 degrees by the morning. Lake effect snow showers will drop at times tonight, but the bulk of the bands will likely stay in our far northern counties, where several inches are possible in Venango, Clarion and Forest counties. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Venango and Clarion counties, and a Lake Effect Snow Warning is in effect for Forest County until 1 p.m. Monday.
