Strong to severe thunderstorms expected Wednesday night; tornado risks possible in some areas

PITTSBURGH — Severe storms could keep you up Wednesday night as a powerful cold front comes plowing through the area.

Severe Weather Team 11 continues to track the weather on the way and times out when this round of storms should hit our area -- through 7 a.m. on Channel 11 Morning News.

Torrential rain, damaging wind and tornadoes are all possible with this system that is scheduled to bring storms into the area beginning after sunset Wednesday. The greatest risk for severe weather is west of the Laurel Highlands. The strongest tornado risk is in our northwestern counties of Lawrence, Venango and Mercer counties.
