Freeze Warning, Frost Advisory in effect for the area through Thursday morning

PITTSBURGH — Dress in layers as you head out Thursday and plan for a 30-degree jump in temperatures through the day. A Freeze Warning and Frost Advisory are in effect for the area.

Soaking rain returns before sunrise Friday and continues off and on through the day. Winds will also be strong, with gusts over 25 mph which will make it tough to get around.

The weekend will also be wet, but it won’t be a washout. Severe Weather Team 11 is tracking a break in the rain after lunch Saturday which should give some dry hours outdoors.

Another slow-moving system brings more rain to the area Sunday. You may see a few damp roads to start the day Wednesday. A stray shower is possible early, but the rest of the day will be dry. It will be another cool day with highs only making it into the upper 50s.

A Freeze Watch is in effect late Wednesday night through early Thursday morning, so cover plants that may be damaged by the cold temperatures. Several areas will be below freezing Thursday morning before a night jump in temperatures into the 60s by late Thursday afternoon.

Wet weather returns Friday as the first of two storm systems moves our way. Scattered showers continue Saturday with another slow-moving storm bringing more rain for Sunday.

Stay with Severe Weather Team 11 as we bring you the latest forecast updates and help you pinpoint the best time to head outdoors this weekend.
