FLASH FLOOD WARNING issued for Mercer and Venango counties, scattered storms expected

PITTSBURGH — The National Weather Service has issued a FLASH FLOOD WARNING for Mercer and Venango counties. The warning for Mercer County is expected to be in place until 1:30 a.m. Venango County’s warning is expected to end at 2:00 a.m.

It will be muggy and cloudy Sunday evening, and showers and a few storms are possible in spots.

Rainfall could be heavy at times, which could lead to flooding concerns in areas that have already had heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours.

Expect a soggy start to Labor Day, with periods of rain especially in the morning hours. Moderate to heavy rainfall is possible at times with a few storms. The steadier rain should taper off to scattered showers and some thunder at times in the afternoon. Highs will reach the mid- to upper 70s.

It’ll still be unsettled through Wednesday, but expect some sun Tuesday with a few scattered showers in spots. Wednesday clouds will increase with only a chance of spotty showers.

Clouds break for more sun again Thursday with a nice end to the workweek.

Check the Severe Weather Team 11 forecast often before you head out the door this holiday weekend. Stay safe and when thunder roars, don’t forget to head indoors.
