Sunny skies Tuesday, high temperatures will be in 70s

PITTSBURGH — We’ll see mostly sunny skies Tuesday, and highs will jump to the low 70s. Stray showers or storms are possible late at night. Much warmer air will arrive Wednesday, and highs will soar to the upper 70s and low 80s in spots south of Pittsburgh.

We could be looking at another round of severe weather for the middle of the week that could once again knock out power to thousands of people.

A strong, spring cold front will come barreling through the area Wednesday night with strong winds and a quick drop in temperatures. Some of the storms could be severe with damaging winds in excess of 65 mph. An isolated tornado can not be ruled out at this time.

The main line of thunderstorms should arrive after sunset Wednesday and continue on and off until the early hours of Thursday morning. The best chance for severe weather is northwest of a line from Waynesburg to Greensburg to Indiana.
