Woman in custody for hitting 3 people with car after argument in East Hills, police say

A woman is facing numerous charges following a catastrophic hit-and-run in which three women and two vehicles were hit.

Mia Patterson, 35, was arrested shortly after the incident, which happened early Wednesday morning outside of Gandy’s Lounge on Frankstown Avenue in Homewood.

According to court documents, the situation began as a dispute and was caught on camera shortly before 3 a.m. Video reportedly captures Patterson approaching a vehicle, when another woman confronts and punches her. A group of people run over to intervene, separating the two.

Patterson is then seen getting into her vehicle, at which point she “drives directly toward the group,” including the woman who punched her.

One woman was thrown upon impact, while two others were run over “completely.” Patterson also hit two vehicles and then took off, police say.

When police arrived, the two women who were run over had to be rushed to the hospital in critical condition. One reportedly had a deep cut on her leg, extending more than a foot long.

The third victim was uncooperative with police and transported herself to the hospital for ankle pain, according to the complaint.

Patterson meantime was arrested a short time later in nearby Wilkinsburg. Police there spotted her white Kia with a missing bumper and heavy damage. She told police that she “was getting jumped and just wanted to get out of there.”

Patterson was taken to the hospital to get checked out. Records show she was driving on a suspended license.

She is charged with numerous counts of aggravated assault, aggravated assault by vehicle, accidents involving death or personal injury, recklessly endangering another person, failing to stop and render aid and driving offenses.
