3 teens facing charges after pizza delivery driver assaulted, car stolen in Penn Hills

Workers at the Domino’s on Frankstown Road got an order Wednesday night for a pepperoni pizza. The delivery was for just a mile and a half down the road.

But the staff didn’t know it was all a setup.

Just after 11:30 p.m., the delivery driver made the delivery to Pennoak Manor Drive. Court paperwork says when he got out, he was attacked by seven or eight juveniles. One who was carrying a gun allegedly pistol-whipped the driver in the head.

“Reports were he was hit over the head with an object. We believe is a gun and then his car was taken,” said Penn Hills Police Chief Ronald Como.

Channel 11 was at the scene after, where we saw a Domino’s bag in a front yard and a receipt in a flowerpot.

“I mean, I hope he’s OK. That’s pretty sad. The world is kind of getting crazy now,” said Ayanna Brooks, who lives nearby.

Brooks was shocked to hear a pizza delivery driver was attacked and carjacked in her community.

Police say three teens got into the driver’s car and drove down Frankstown Road. After a police chase, they allegedly left the car and ran.

“We set up a perimeter. We got a neighboring municipality to bring their K9 in to search, which was unsuccessful,” said Como. “A few minutes later, a couple of officers involved in the search saw a couple individuals at one of our gas stations closed, but it was lit up. Stopped to speak with them and turns out they matched the description of the actors.”

Jahlil Gore-Ramsey, 15, of Pittsburgh, was identified by police as the driver. He is charged with robbery, robbery of a motor vehicle, conspiracy, evading arrest, fleeing and traffic violations.

Deovante Hockett, 15, was identified as the one who had the gun, according to court documents. He is charged with robbery, robbery of a motor vehicle, conspiracy, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm by a minor and evading arrest.

Passenger Montez Smith, 15, of Pittsburgh, is charged with robbery, robbery of a motor vehicle, conspiracy and evading arrest.
