Periwinkles Bakery and Cafe in O’Hara permanently closes

O'HARA TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Periwinkles Bakery and Cafe was known for its award-winning donuts.

It was only open for two years, but now it’s closed for good.

The parking lot at Periwinkles is now blocked off by chains and orange cones.

The family bakery and cafe opened in 2021 in the RIDC Industrial Park off route 28 at the former Max & Erma’s restaurant.

It temporarily closed in 2022.

This sign is still posted on the front door, thanking its customers, and says, “Unfortunately, due to staffing issues, we are unable to provide the high level of service you deserve. We look forward to reopening sometime after the first of the year.”

But the business never reopened.

Channel 11′s Lori Houy spoke with several people at the office building next door. Many said they never went there and others who said they did, that it was convenient and had good food.

She also talked with a man in the restaurant office, who said no comment.

Another sign is also on the door about how to get a refund on unused gift cards. The original gift card has to be mailed in to the restaurant to receive a check in return.

The building is now available to lease. A real estate sign is posted out front. The leasing price, however, is not listed online.
