House in Marshall Township gutted after overnight fire

MARSHALL TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Fire consumed the house at 503 Rockport Place in Marshall Township early Saturday morning.

A neighbor told Channel 11 he heard an explosion, then saw flames.

A Channel 11 viewer sent a video, the flames so intense people saw it from another neighborhood.

“We heard the sirens going off. So we got up to look. I immediately saw this house engulfed in flames. They were above the trees. And the amount of firetrucks a dozen firetrucks here. It was just packed,” Catherine Mensch said.

Not much is left of the house. The roof and the second floor are gone.

The flames damaged the houses next door, melting the siding.

A firefighter said everyone managed to get out safely.

A neighbor told Channel 11 a young couple lived there and was not hurt. The neighbor said they just remodeled their house.

An official cause of the fire is still under investigation.
