Chilly temperatures overnight, pleasant weather on the way this week

PITTSBURGH — It will be a nice evening for a walk or jog around the block. There will be a bit of a chill in the air so make sure to grab a light jacket before you head out. Conditions will be mostly clear and calm overnight with temperatures falling to the mid-30s.

Monday will be warmer with a mix of clouds and sun; a spotty shower can’t be ruled out in the afternoon. Winds will switch out of the southwest and it will be breezy at times which will help the temperature to reach the low to mid-60s.

It will be mostly sunny Tuesday and highs will jump to the low 70s. Stray showers or storms are possible late at night. Much warmer air will arrive Wednesday, and highs will soar to the upper 70s and low 80s in spots south of Pittsburgh. The record high temperature on Wednesday is 83° from 1910. There will also be a chance of scattered showers and storms Wednesday, a few could become strong to severe. Watch for pockets of heavy rainfall at times, strong wind gusts with a storm, and lightning. A cool-down will follow for Thursday, but highs will still manage to be above average around 60°.
