1 killed, 2 flown to hospital in wrong-way crash on Mon/Fayette Expressway

FALLOWFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — One person is dead, and two others are injured after a wrong-way crash in Washington County on Tuesday morning.

The two-vehicle crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on Pennsylvania Turnpike 43, also known as the Mon/Fayette Expressway, in Fallowfield Township.

A Washington County 911 supervisor told Channel 11 that one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco identified the man killed as Jacob Matthew Huber, 24, of Ruffs Dale.

Warco said that Huber was traveling southbound when another vehicle was traveling the wrong way and collided with Huber’s vehicle.

Warco added that Huber was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was the sole occupant of that vehicle.

Dispatchers said two other people were flown to a hospital from the scene. Their conditions are currently unknown.

The southbound lanes were closed for a few hours while Pennsylvania State Police investigated.
