Pittsburgh leaders, UPMC teaming up to teach people life-saving skills

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh leaders and UPMC are teaming up to teach everyone in the city life-saving skills.

The initiative is called “Minutes Matter,” and its goal is to teach people basic emergency skills – such as performing chest compressions or using a tourniquet.

“We travel, we move. Steeler Nation goes across county and world, and the reality is no matter where you go if there's an emergency, you're gonna want a city of Pittsburgh resident standing next to you when that hits,” said Daniel Gilman, the mayor’s chief of staff.
